Negotiating custody arrangements for minor children is often the most emotional, bitterly contested issue in all of Family Law. We advocate for both men and women in divorce or paternity actions to obtain fair custody arrangements for the client that are also in the best interest of the child. Issues that may arise in a dispute for legal and/or physical custody include:
- Major life decisions on behalf of the child (educational, religious, medical);
- Visitation and co-parenting schedules;
- Day-to-Day decision making on behalf of the child;
- The relationship of custody to the payment of child support;
- Dealing with court-appointed Guardian ad Litems (“GAL”);
- Dealing with Parent Coordinators (“PC”);
- Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction Act to determine interstate disputes;
- Removal of a child out of Massachusetts;
- Father’s rights (to eliminate gender bias in the Family Court); and
- Domestic Violence (as a component of a custody determination)
